I decided to visit Barbados because I was promoting Vujaday Festival. I have never been to Barbados before, and it looked beautiful from all the images I was looking at while researching, so I figured it would be cool to enjoy a festival and also explore the island while I'm there. Heres some highlights of my trip...
I was able to visit Bathsheba two times. Once to catch the beautiful sunrise on the west coast, and the second time while on a tour for lunch. This beach is not suitable for swimming but was beautiful to visit and to take photos at.
On our second day my group of friends decided to do a Sunset cruise operated by Cool Runnings. The Cruise went from 3-7pm and included a stop to swim with sea turtles, and a stop to swim over a shipwreck. I forgot to bring my go pro so I wasn't able to get any underwater shots but I was so close to the turtles, it was truly a special experience. Also when we were cruising we got lucky and got to see whales which is a first for me! I highly recommend this cruise to anyone who visits the country, the staff and food were great.
One of the islands most famous attractions is Harrisons Cave. This limestone cavern features several streams, as well as stalactites, stalagmites and other kinds of calcite deposits. I decided to take the tram tour with my friends, where we were driven in an electrically operated tram down through the extensive system of caves.
Named for its sea anemones, Animal Flower Cave is the island's only accessible sea cave, located under the North Point cliffs in St. Lucy parish. We decided to take a quick tour into the cave and even got to take a swim in one of the natural rock pools.
Overall, the island was beautiful. We took a 7 hour tour around the whole island and learned a bit of history as well. The locals were all very friendly and helpful. We went to two top rated restaurants which were great. I definitely enjoyed my time and would come back again.
